Laggala Divisional Secretariat has 3 Samurdhi Community based banks; Udasiya, Kalu ganga and Pallegama. There are 4874 shareholders to benefit from these banks.

Samurdhi program has been doing an incomparable service to uplift the low income earning families in these areas which has awakened by Moragahakanda & Kalu ganga development programs.
In these areas which have many new residents, farming is the main livelihood while Udasiya (related to Riverstone) and Pallesiya (related to Lakegala) has tourist attraction. Samurdhi Community based banks has released amount of 431659140.00 LKR for the projects to uplift the wellbeing of people in these areas. Total deposits of 299037843.00 LKR have summed up from Udasiya, Pallesiya & Kaluganga banks by now. After releasing loan amount excess of 1089763740.00 LKR has been invested in commercial banks.
